The Grand Cayman Islands
The Grand Cayman Islands are a dependency of the UK. Grand Cayman is the largest of the three islands with also Little Cayman and Cayman Brac the other two. Georgetown is the capital with a population of approximately 20 000. The Grand Cayman Islands are known for their tax exempt status.
We spent a brief time on Cayman and it would be challenging to present an accurate overview or impression. It does appear to be more expensive than other islands. The port in Georgetown has it myriad of stores and as we made our way to the Turtle Center. It was introduced to us as a center established to help recover various species of turtles by breeding and releasing them into the wild. The unsuspecting tourist may not realize the full extent of the operation as I discovered once back home following up on the internet. This article by National Geographic may give a clearer insight into what is really going on.
